In 2015 I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disease of the thyroid. Way before my symptoms manifested, I started already experiencing imbalance in the body and even the mind. I ignored the signs until it became symptoms and by then manifested as full blown symptoms and blood work confirmed the major imbalance in my thyroid. I had insomnia, experienced anxiety, had heart palpitations, amongst many other symptoms. It got to a point I lost several kilo’s over a period of just 10 days. My doctor told me I had to take medication rest of my life.

Graves’ disease is the most common hyperthyroid condition, but many of us have been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease another kind of autoimmune disease where in contrary to Graves’ disease the thyroid becomes slow instead of hyper. Either way our thyroid is weak.
Since 2015 I have been on my personal journey of strengthening and healing my thyroid and my life. I have not only looked into the root cause in my personal situation, but I researched what the root causes are of a weak thyroid and how we can heal the thyroid with lifestyle, nutrition, herbs, and spiritual practices. I even studied Ayurvedic medicine @ayurvedacollege after I completed my Integrative Nutrition Training at @IIN
I completed my research paper on Graves’ disease and just recently completed my thesis on an integrative treatment for Graves disease with Ayurveda and Yoga. Since 2016 I am no longer on medication and have been able to prevent recurrence of the symptoms.
